One important benefit of the Class Connection system is the unique ability to utilize CAT 3/5/6 cabling for all speakers, call switch inputs, and security inputs.  This cabling infrastructure has strict guidelines and will enhance performance, function, and reliability.  Systems that require old heavy gauge type wire are observing old standards that have been in place since the 1930s - standards that are now obsolete. Security/camera networks, fire alarm systems, telephone systems, data networks and Class Connection solutions all utilize modern UTP 3/5/6 cabling. When you consider that 50% of the cost of the job will be in the wiring labor, it makes sense to choose wiring that will allow you to spread this cost over Cat 5's estimated 25-year life cycle. Heavy gauge intercom type wiring will not be satisfactory for today's rapidly emerging LAN based technologies and will require replacement within an industry estimated 8 years.
